Need a alternator: 1 wire or replacement?

Reason I ask is my camaro is now a carb car. Meaning no computer. So should I just get a 1 wire and be done with it? Or will all the wires still have a impact on how the car charges?

I'd say just get the regular alternator called for. I've read several posts here where folks had issue with the 1-wire jobs. They are old old school. The newer designed alternators are much better, are available with fancy chrome and what-not if that's what you're looking at, and plug & play - no need to hack up your existing wiring to make a 1-wire job work.

Your stock alt puts out more already and is independent of the old ECM controls. Use what you've got, dont revert more components to the dinosaur age
