Rear running lights
Rear running lights
Hey guys need a bit of a hand here:
My fiancee noticed the other night as she was driving home from work behind my 88 Camaro that my running lights were not working. We ran through all the lights and found that my rear turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights work fine with no issue. It is only the running lights that do not work. To my knowledge, this is a fairly recent development but since I rarely drive the car at night, I am not sure if it is. I am pretty sure in my small town if during the night I was driving it recently I would have been pulled over for it pretty quickly.
The front part of the car works fine, headlights, turn signals, side markers, and running lights and so do all interior lights and etc. It is only the rear running lights that seem to be the culprit. Hoping there is an easy fix that doesn't involve a lot of work as I am electrically incompetent. Can you all give me some things to check on (like what fuse corresponds to it, what ground[s] to check, etc)? Appreciate the help!

Re: Rear running lights
I find it odd that the front parking lights work and the rears do not, since they should be on the same circuit.
It's unlikely all the bulbs failed, but you never know.
there may be a connector under the drivers side plastic paneling (forward of the locking compartment) which has the tail light and hatch wiring, check that to make sure it is a solid connection.

Re: Rear running lights
I believe there is a ground (or several) for the rear lights under the very rear plastic panel - take a peak at that wiring as well.
Re: Rear running lights
Thanks I will check those in the morning.
Yeah, the front of the car works fine. It is odd because what I found on here I get the gist that the parking lamps are all tied together electrically. Well, I bought this car to learn on, so I guess I better get to learning

Re: Rear running lights
Ya, I installed a Viper alarm on my car a few weeks ago and one wire from the alarm to the headlight switch flashes all of my parking lights.
