faulty mirror controls
The right and up buttons work, I think it's left and down that do not work no matter how hard I press. They did at one point in time, but I am terrible with electronics and was hoping you guys could help me yet again.

Is the problem in one mirror or both mirrors?
If one mirror, which one?

I know this is super late, but I was messing with them the other day and noticed for both mirrors it's the same. I think it was actually every direction works but the adjustment right.

OK If both mirrors have the same problem adjusting to the right it’s probably the Left•Right switch.
Before buying a new one you can verify by jumping the orange wire to the light blue wire at the switch.
At the same time ground pin F White wire.
If the left mirror moves to the right when you do that, replace the switch.
Remember the mirror has to be at least partially to the left for the test to show.

I'm pretty terrible about electronics too, but I seem to enjoy taking things apart and checking them out. Occasionally I imagine that I have learned something. Upon taking several mirror switches apart at the JY, or separating the switch from the harness plug, I've seen that the pins that act as conductors on the back of the switch get pretty corroded looking and may work better if cleaned up. Just an idea? This is the real low-tech idea!
Re: faulty mirror controls
Firebirds have a nasty habit of having liquids spilled in the mirror switch due to it's location on the console. If it's not soda pop it's Armor All. Just shooting in the dark, I'd say it's highly likely the switch is just gummed up. The other issue I've had with power mirrors, is the electric motors themselves. Inside the plastic housing there are two small electric motors. The early housings are glued together, but the later ones have a couple small screws that can be removed to expose the motors. Sometimes all it takes is turning the gear on the motor manually to break it free from corrosion, then a little lubrication and they will work fine. That is, assuming the switch is alright.

How do you replace the switch/which switch am I replacing if this is the problem? I think you might be right on the armor all idea though. I'm guessing try cleaning it up with a wire brush or something or maybe a can of electrical parts cleaner
