would an ignition switch cause a key not to release to be pulled out of the cylinder when you turn the vehicle off?have a problem with diagnosis.what else could cause this and is there anything i could test and how.

btw.the cylinder is new and the housing for the cylinder is new.i have everything apart so if i need to test something hopefully it is fairly easy.
also this is on a 2000 jimmy.i know.not camaro.but have nowhere else to go.
