Re: pick up coil bad?

When you state "it wouldnt start", does the motor turn over?

Pickup Line

To test the pickup coil disconnect the 4 terminal connector at the distributor.

If you then have spark replace the pickup coil.

Re: pick up coil bad?

In my experience the factory distributor is in need of a replacement unit, age is apparent its cheaper in the longrun to buy a reman. dist. the old ones get alot of play in them then things begin to happen as you have described.

New Medical Problem With Ignition Problem

Whoaaaaaaa orange sparks red sparks blue sparks we could have used that coil on the 4th.

Anyway sometimes you’re getting fuel, sometimes you’re getting spark, but you’re not getting both at the same time.

First you want to know when the spark is not occurring.

An easy way to monitor is to clip on a timing light, then face the xenon in a position you can see it.

Now you can find out, then post when the spark is cutting out.
