Another Hatch Pull down issue, Help plsz..89 Iroc

I have put two different pull down units on my 89 Iroc. On both of them when I shut my deck lid the motor pulled the hatch down really tight, almost sounded too tight. When I go to open the deck lid it will release but the motor on both units would not come back up. Is there a switch or contact that tells the motor to stop going down and to come back up? Any help would be great. Thanks, this is getting frustrating!

Re: Being pulled down too tight.

The pull-down unit mounts in oversized holes allowing adjustment.

Re: Not going up.

In the pull-down unit there is a reversing switch that causes it to come up that you can access thru the opening where the latch is with a screwdriver or pencil.

Sometimes that switch needs to be flipped.

NIna,
Thanks for your help. I cant locate the switch youre talkin about. I have the entire unit out of the car. Is it on the black portion of the latch or somewhere else? Thanks again.

The reversing switch is about a half inch more towards the rear of the car than the latch is.

I forget if you need to flip it up or down but it will be obvious because it when it’s in one position it can only move in the other.

Re: Walking The Tightrope

Hey guys,
Thanks for the help. I called the guy from top down solutions. He said my adjustment was off. I raised the entire unit. He said mine never went down far enough to engage the reverse switch. I raised it up as far as it would go and it started working instantly. Thanks again for your help and responses.

Yep. that's what I would have said. Oh wait, that is what I said. Glad you were able to get the hatch adjusted properly.

Yeah man, I appreciate it. As soon as I raised it up some it engaged and started working. Talking about feeling real stupid!! Thanks again for the time to explain and save me some loot in the process.
