I have an 88 camaro and i want to install a Monster Tach, and 2 autometer gauges one for temp and the other for oil pressure. I have no idea how to wire them, do i just unplug the wires from the cluster then put them on the new gauges and tach? the tach is going to be mounted on the dash prolly and the 2 gauges right under the dash vent in the center. any suggestions and how hard it is to do, i'm a beginner at wireing

 

you will have to cut into the wiring going to the stock gauge pod. thats all back inside the dash, kinda hard to get to without taking most the dash apart. You will have to trace out the wires, find the right ones, tap onto them and run the wires to the new gauges.

thats just for the tach, the temp sensors that will come with the autometer gauges are different than the ones your car has. You will have to find a place in the block to install them, and run wiring to them, probably 2-3 wires to each sensor, they should come with the gauges.

Not hard for somebody who knows what they are doing, but can be quite intimidating for a beginner.


I assume you are keeping the stock gauges too?
