Re: Fuel Gauge

Sounds like the float has gotten stuck on the sender in the tank. It might un-stick itself. Problem is, with gas prices - folks don't fill up - thet get $10 at a time - so gunk/rust/whatever can build up on the sender floats - then when you fill up they get stuck.

You car holds 15.5 gallons when empty. You know you got 200 miles, at 12mpg you only ger 180 miles (I'm using 12mpg to cover you @ss). So I wouldn't go past 200 before I refilled.

BUT - if you want try and see if it will loosen up, keep it full! Fill it, and top it off every 75 miles - that will reintroduce gasoline to the gunked up spot, and keep pressure on the float (gravity) for it to fall some - and maybe over the next 30 days it'll unstick itself and work properly.

Only other option is to drop the tank and fix it. If you go to that trouble, replace the in-tank fuel pump while your their if it has one.
