Drive by Wire Harness
I bought an 99-02 model ls motor with a drive by wire throttle body. The harness i bought to use is for a cable type throttle body, i have a guy that wants to trade his lq9 harness from a 02? model escalade that is drive by wire, will it work for me? Or would someone need more info to know and what info would you need? I do not know anything about these ls motor and how much is interchangeable.
Hope i posted in the right place.

Re: Drive by Wire Harness
the truck harnesses are a little different than the fbody ones, but they can be made to work. I'm doing that myself, since my harness was free and I didnt feel like dropping a ton of cash for the "correct" harness.
check out lt1swap.com for all the wiring info you could need on these swaps.

i will check it out, but sounds like i might be better off getting a different throttle body.
Re: Drive by Wire Harness
What 99-02 truck came with a DBW TB? They shouldnt have gotten them until 04, previously the only DBW TBs were the C5's
Anyways, converting DBW to DBC is simple. You need the DBC TB (obviously) a TPS and IAC connectors (borrow from ANY GM 90+ vehicle), and a bit of wire
Depin the two TAC serial wires from the PCM on the DBW harness and run the 7 new wires for the DBC TB. Reloom and you're done, should take less than an hour
Step by step here, just substitute green connector for red which you have. In this case the pins line up exactly. Other places they do not so dont assume anything beyond

Doing a DBW conversion is still viable, just be sure thats what you want first. Id recommend driving a newer truck around for a few hours to see if you like the throttle response. It's much to twitchy for my tastes

Re: Drive by Wire Harness
I would never want a DBW throttle body. There's such a horrible lag when you hit the throttle. You lose a lot of throttle response. Every single day I drive numerous new cars with DBW and it never fails to irritate me.

Re: Drive by Wire Harness
I have an 06 GTO, it is drive by wire..... there is no lag in throttle response...not that i notice...and if there is it cant possibly be anymore that the slack in a cable on a cable type throttle.... thats my opinion though
anyway,
if i have the throttle body and i get this harness what else would i need? is there a special pedal assembly or something i would need?
