Tach till 4000 help?
I recently bought an 84 TA with a 355 carbed engine swap. It has a MSD distributor and a blaster 3 coil. The electrical in this car is a bit interesting but as far as I can tell the tach is hooked up correctly.
The white wire is going to the negative point on the coil. My problem is it only seems to want to show revs till about 4000 rpm then it stays steady. I can hear the engine reving higher and I am picking up speed but the tach shows nothing. Sometimes if I rev high enough it will jump to 5k but it takes time. Any chance I need a tach adapter I am not running any kind of msd box.

Tach Is Whack
You should have mentioned the model number of the distributor.
So based on a generic distributor, install a 10KΩ resistor inline with the tach lead.
It might not be the cure but it takes only a minute to try it.

Does The White Flag Mean He’s Surrendering?

Thankyou I will try that and get the model of the distributor. I also have a 10K pot I can try. On top of that I just got a MSD tach buffer box just encase.

Re: Tach till 4000 help?
Thanks it worked I guess I will not need the tach adapter till I get a 6al box. The only issue I found it a little bit of a tick at idle but it is great to see the tach working as it should.
