LED Scanner
I'd like someone with electronical know-how to show me in lamence terms of how to build a basic led scanner.
12volt source. swoops from left to right in a loop of 6 leds (biggest led bulb 10mm?)
I saw a very basic one on thinkgeek.com but it uses i beleive a 3v source
ref: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/science/cca8/
basically just power to microcontroller then resistor then led it seems. but i read online and others show these more complex designs..

Scan Plan
You can use that 3 volt scanner if you reduce the usual car voltage from its’ ~13 volts to 3 volts with this circuit.

R1 is a 120 ohm, 2 watt resistor.
Z1 is a 3 volt, 2 watt zener diode.
You might have to adjust the resistor value(s) and adjust the zener to match the wattage depending on the draw of the scanner.

direct link to the makers, but since the 2 AA are put together i think that is a 3v source. I know a little about electronics so i want to do it right the first time. what i'll do is get the instructions of building it so you know what source of power were using.
