1985 iroc-z wiring harness compatibility?
1985 iroc-z wiring harness compatibility?
I have a 1985 iroc-z with the piggy back bosch computer. I need a new wire harness, but it is hard to find an '85 with the piggy back connector. Can I use a different year harness and get this to work somehow? If not can someone advise where I can get an affordable 85 iroc harness with this connector. Thanks, Jeremy

Which engine? If it's TPI, the 85 setup is pretty much it's own animal. If you can your best bet would be to fix the existing harness. If that's not an option, and you're not concerned with keeping the car historically accurate, it might be a good time to upgrade to a later harness. The easiest way to go would be a later MAF donor car that you could grab almost everything electronic under the hood.
If it's carbed, it should be the same (or at least close) to the carbed harnesses the years before and after.

It is tpi. piggy back is not after market, it is the only year they made a burn off (piggy back) box for the maf verses a relay. I have an 86 tpi harness where everything looks to be the same except it has a relay for the maf. I thought it might be posible to do some quick repinning to get it to work, but it looks like I might end up repairing the old harness. I would like to keep the computer the same for now because I have a custom chip that cost $350. Thanks for everyones input. God bless
