interior lights wont turn off

i have an 1989 firebird, when i plug the crtsy fuse in the interior lights never go off, the door jams are correctly hooked up, the power mirrors and locks work, the hatch relase work, the dome lights work the only things that dont work are the horn, lights on the rearview mirror and the fact that the lights dont turn of, could a short in the line cause this, could a bad horn relay affect it, my car no longer has a power antenna and the wires for it are just hanging there could that affect it? i dont have a light bulb in the roof light could that affect it? any help please, any experiences like it please tell me your solution, thanks

Re: interior lights wont turn off

The door jamb switches make a GROUND contact, not a power contact - so when the door is closed a ground is made for the interior lights.

Are there switches on the rear view mirror?

Have you twisted the headlight **** - twisting the **** dims/brightens the dash lights, and if it's twisted all the way the interior lights will stay on always.

The brightness wheel on the Firebird controls the courtesy lights... Just past full bright you'll feel a click and the dome light comes on.
