What sensor is that?

I'm stripping the whole car, and everything looks very clean, but when I got to pull the harness out from the passenger side I noticed very badly looking sensor (connector)
It was located on the passenger side of the engine, on its side, just between spark plugs, in front of the starter motor.
There was another sensor like that a bit further down on the same side and it's looking perfect.

Here are the pics of what I'm talking about... First pic was taken from underneath the engine, and you can see those sensors in the circles. The one on the left was perfectly fine and one on the right was terrible.
You can see them both on the second pic side by side.

Can someone tell me what that sensor (or whatever that is) is? Where can I get a replacement?
Before I stripped the car it was working perfectly fine, so it cannot be anything important, is it?

Thanks for your answers and help.

The one circled by the starter is the knock sensor. The other is what Apeiron said. Replacement plugs can usually be found in the 'help'/dorman section of an autoparts store

Re: What sensor is that?

Just replaced both of mine, got it all at O'Reilly Auto Parts. One thing of note, the pig tail for the fan switch is the same as the one for the knock sensor, but the auto parts store computer didn't show it. Usually that damage is caused by heat and age in general.

Re: What sensor is that?

o'rileys stocks them at most of their stores.... mine was 11 bucks

engine heat and age causes them to pretty much crumble when you take them off, the replacements are made way better

Re: What sensor is that?

I would happily buy both of them but I'm in Europe. Do you know whether O'Reilly ship internationally?
Can someone buy them for me and send them to me and I will pay for everything

Have you got the part number of them?

Re: What sensor is that?

Hi guys.

Can you take a minute and have a look on RockAuto and tell me which fan swich I should buy
Part # 35930 or Part # 35946
It says on the website that one of them is 9/16" and the other is 5/16". Which I should go for.
The car is 1991 Z28, 305 TPI, Auto.

Thanks for help.

BTW
What size of socket do I need for my oil pressure switch? 1-1/16" or 1-3/16"?

Re: What sensor is that?

Looking at Rock Auto, 35930 will fit. The part number for the fan switch I bought at O'Reilly's is a TFS5 by BWD and the pigtail is PT770, again a BWD part. The Rock Auto part 35930 is the same price as the BWD TFS5 switch btw. BEFORE you take my sawg at that Rock Auto part, I would contact them and see if it crosses with the TFS5 by BWD. Hope this helps you out some. For the oil pressure switch, I am guessing 1-1/16 if that big. I just reinstalled mine, but the motor was out of the car, so I used a big crescent wrench. Sorry I can't be any more help than that.
