Alternator bolts

Some quick help please I have to replace the alternator on my 1990 firebird and it has two star head bolts holding the alternator in place. I no one is a T40 is the bottom a T50. It looks like it fits but i cant break the bolt free and it keeps sliping out and i dont want to strip it. Do i have the right size at the store the T55 looked to big. Any help on getting out that bolt and if i strip it then what. Thanks
