erratic tachometer...ever seen this?

Engine: 5.7 TPI 350 (GM stock replacement)
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3:73
erratic tachometer...ever seen this?

my tach jumps and bounces all over the place like a mexican jumping bean! is it just a bad gauge? i checked the wires from the distrubitor..and they seem fine...any suggestions or stuff you can help me bat around would be much appreciated.

if you have the filter plugged inline with to the distributor, take it out of the loop.

Its a little brown tube looking thing right behind the distributor. Just unplug the wiring from it, and go directly into the distributor.
