Re: good battery ground?

your main ground has to go to the engine because of
the heavy current pulled by the starter motor-the
ground cable to the alternator bracket can be moved
to another large bolt on the engine such as on the
front of the head, the threaded holes on front of the
block or the fuel pump block off plate if there is no
fuel pump in place. If you have accesories on the car
that pull a lot of current, you should run an extra
ground wire from a good ground on the engine to the
crossmember-the extra ground should be around 6GA.
or bigger.

Re: good battery ground?

Main gound would be the one off battery? That is the one going to alternator bracket.

Re: good battery ground?

Main ground wire from battery goes to engine (usually where you have it, on the alt bracket). You also have to have a ground from engine block to frame (usually pass side head to firewall), and there's also a smaller ground wire runs from battery neg to fender. ALL three have to be in place, to complete the circuit (battery to motor, motor to frame, frame to battery).

Re: good battery ground?

I just put it on alternater bracket but on low part where it bolts to head. Beings my car has a sawpped 327 in it the brackets are rigged together and it was on the alternator bracket but high on it in a drilled out hole. I will check other grounds. I am just trying to figure out why anytime I turn on lights, heat, signals or anything else my volts jump around. Figured good ground is a good place to start
