Dim Headlights

I have an 88 Iroc none of the headlights are the same brightness. Three are so dim they are worthless and one is extra bright. Flip the brights on and they all change to different levels and none of them are the same brightness. I have never seen anything like this before and have no clue where to begin. I thought about switching all the bulbs but don't want to waste the money if somebody else has already seen this.

Any help???

Re: Dim Headlights

you/we have cars that are 20+ yrs. old . clean ALL connectors , headlights prongs etc. . corrosion is like a cancer it needs to be removed . my thoughts are that you have dirty/corroded conections . a good cleaning and a lite coat of di-electric grease would help on all the connections . of course you may also have some old/weak sealbeams . but , clean all connections first . good luck .

Try cleaning all the GROUND connections. Sounds like faulty grounds to me.

Re: Dim Headlights

if its anything like my car where it still had the factory headlights i would replace those aswell...i had all original headlights and only one was blown but i went ahead and replaced all of them...the bulbs are only $10 a bulb, so $40 for all 4 is pretty good i think.

Re: Dim Headlights

Thanks all of you guys for the responses - I cleaned the pig tails and the prongs on the sealbeams and they are all working great now. I am going to take the advice to replace the lights themselves though. Thanks again!!!!
