Heater fan barely blows any air
as winter has arrived i am been trying to keep warm in the car. but the hot air that comes out of the vents is closer to someone breathing on you.
not sure what it could be? the **** does change how hard it blows, although the differences are barely noticeable.

Could be the brushes inside your blower motor or broken and/or cloged air ducts. Can you hear the blower? or is it so weak you can't even hear it run inside your engine bay?

Then it could be a cloged or broken air duct. You would have to remove the plastic cover under the dash on the passenger's side and check the ducts.

OP look inside the dash to see if the heater box isn't broken, as blower air will escape out of it rather than passing through the ducts as its supposed to.

If it only works on high then the blower resistor is KO'd. If it only comes out of the defroster then there is a vacuum line broken, more than likely the one that goes to the engine (a problem that I am working on as well).

So would it be easier to just replace the whole comtrol box. It tried to get mine out but the lever that does hot to cold I think has a metal line that I don't know how to unhoook. I know there is a plug with the vacuam lines, two electrical plugs, and then some other bracket. Couldn't get it off.

It has nothing to do with the blend doors, from the sound of it your getting hot and cold. Your looking for a malfunction in the blower system (or a restriction).

If you want to test the resistors, you can use a multimeter and check their resistances. The resistors are mounted outside, in the HVAC box. There is a flat plug with 4 wires going to it. Take the resistors out, find the common, and check them all. They should all have different resistances.
If you are worried that the blower motor is shot...remove the power wire and hook up your meter on volts this time. Check that on each setting of the fan switch you get a different voltage. With the HIGH setting providing full battery power.
If you dont have high, but have everything else, its most likely the high blower relay. Its usually mounted right there by the blower motor and resistors. Also if its stuck on high the relay could be bad also.
If you have high but nothing else, its probably a wiring issue with the common circuit for the resistors. Or the blower switch.
If you have all speeds, voltage at the blower checks out, and the fan tests good out of the box, but bad air flow, you likely have a clog. You'd be surprised the amount of stuff that can get into your HVAC box and get stuck in there. Open up the top, clean out the evaporator and all of the areas you can get to with a vacuum. Mouse nests are very common, and they can become a problem very quickly. You could be fine one day, let it sit for a day or two, and they could have a full mouse condo built in there.
If you only have defrost...like others have said...check your vacuum lines. It might not only be outside...there are lots of lines inside. There is a main supply line though that comes in, and if you dont have anything else but defrost, it'll be in that circuit somewhere. Should be able to find the leak fairly easy...its part of owning a thirdgen haha.
The HVAC wiring for our cars is VERY VERY simple. In fact, the harness is almost stand alone. However...there is a lot of current going through the wires for that blower fan, so they can break down over time. Same with the connectors and terminals for the resistors, blower and relay. Just take it a piece at a time, eliminate the easy crap first, and you'll figure it out.

And just for quick reference...here's a pic of my blower motor area... Mine will look a little different than yours undoubtedly, but it gets the point across. That grey plug is the resistor plug. Resistors are screwed in right there. Relay is the high blower relay.
