SPEEDO READS HIGH ???

o.k. i just got back from a trip on thanksgiving week . 6-7 hr. drive each way on the interstate . my speedo seemed to show i was going much faster than i really was . ( camaro ran like like a dream ) anyway when minivans & FHP passed me when i showed 75mph i thought WTF . i felt that when i had to maintain 80+mph to keep up with traffic , & 95mph to pass others that it must be off . wondering if any of others have had the same problem ??? i feel it must be a bad VSS after a little search . can anyone confirm this ???

Re: SPEEDO READS HIGH ???

Stock tires and gears i presume. If so I could see the VSS being bad, but it could be a problem with the speedo its self.

Nobody but you can confirm it. But here is how, if you have any friends with cars (you've got to have at least one) simply get on the expressway and have them set their cruise at 70 mph and see if your car matches the other cars speed at the same speedo reading.

Speed Reading

If you have a scanner plug it in and drive at the speed the speedometer was misreporting.

If the scanner is within 2 MPH of the speedo replace the VSS
BUFFER.

If the speedo and scanner disagree replace the speedo.

Happy Racing!

How bout those too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime and the ones that need headlights for a little rain
