ignition switch trouble...suggestions, tips?

Car: 1991 L98 z28 camaro
Engine: 5.7 TPI 350 (GM stock replacement)
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3:73
ignition switch trouble...suggestions, tips?
ignition switch won't return to the off position....its on and has a 1/4 turn before it bumps the starter...so what my question is....how do i get it to come back? and how do i get the column components off with out breaking them? i imagine they all have to come off in the direction of the steering wheel right?...anyways...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks dude's

When I had that happen to my old '84, it was the auto shifter lockout on the ignition switch that failed. My car was actually stuck to the point you couldn't turn it off while it was running.
Replacing the ignition switch fixed the problem on my 84.

The red arrow is pointing to the high/low lamp switch, the ignition switch is opposite of that on the column, under the dash.
