'85 Firebird headlight problems
I am having a problem with the headlights. They won't go down, either of them. I have had no prior problems with the lights, other than routine changing. They turn on and off, so driving at night is not a problem, but I just don't want to look like "that guy."
I have checked all the wires running to and from, and have checked the ground, but I did hear a "click" when they were turned on and they haven't returned to their rightful position. I read on other threads that it could be the relays, but to have both of them go out at once seems unlikely. I have also read that there is a third that governs them going back down. Is that correct? And if there is a third, where is it located and what does it look like? Is it similar to the other two that are located next to the headlamp assembly on the inner fender? I am missing the door panel to the fuse box, so I don't know if there is a fuse that regulates such things.
Any help at all would be appreciated.

Re: '85 Firebird headlight problems
there is a little control modual to the left of the brake booster (if you don have a modual ignore rest). take it out and open it up. spray the circuit board with contact cleaner then (the important part) you see the connector prongs that go through the board you will see sotter on the back of it were they pop through. take a sottering iron and heat the sotter until it melts then let it cool one at a time down the row put it back together and that should fix it
Re: '85 Firebird headlight problems
Thanks for the reply, but I found the problem. After changing the isolation relay and still nothing happened, I noticed that there wasn't the pinging sound to notify me that my keys were in the ignition or that my lights were on. I decided to look at the fuses and found that the 20 amp fuse that is marked TAIL was blown. I replaced the fuse and one closed. I then changed back to the original isolation relay and the other went down. All works fine now. I guess auto parts stores don't carry isolation relays, just the regular relay.
I hope this helps others who happen across the same problem.
