Neutral safety switch wires cut?
I noticed that on the plug to my neutral safety switch(automatic transmission) the thick green and purple wires were cure and twisted together with a wire nut. I assume the previous owner did this to install the B&M shifter I removed. I have problems every now and then where the starter won't turn when I turn the key, so I think the problem is here. What is the best way to fix this?

Re: Neutral safety switch wires cut?
Best way is to get a new neutral safety switch and a new pigtail for it. As it sits now, the car will start in any gear - not good if you are accidentally in reverse and crank it - might move back and hit something/someone.
Wait - it might be OK - you need to check. The starter would get the signal in any gear to crank, but if the original shifter safety cable is still in place and funtional, the key won't turn unless it's in park or neutral since that cable keeps the ignition switch from allowing the key cylinder to push the rod into the ignition switch and allow it to put 12v+ to the dark green wire.
If it seems to only start in park or neutral, then yopu could just use a butt connector and crimp it well, or solder them together. Make sure they are covered well - that's alot of voltage to short out on all the metal there is at the shifter area.

So you are saying it might be fine the way it is, just make the wires connected better?
DO you think that is what may cause the car to not start sometimes?
