Going Carbed.. What wires to keep?

In an attempt to clean up my engine bay, repaint it, and make everything nice and simple, im trying to remove every single wire out of the engine bay that I don't need. At this point, I feel like its easier to just figure out what ones to keep and remove the rest. I want to keep the blower motor/relay, coolant fan wires/relay, distributor wires, choke wire, washer fluid pump?
I've already removed the a/c completely, so all of those wires can go.

Every wiring diagram I look at is pretty confusing, can anyone give me a quick run down of wire colors and their purpose?

Also, does anyone have a part number for a blower motor that isn't inside that whole a/c assembly that will still bolt up? lol

Basically, you need all the driver side wires.

BUT - don't be a putz! There's a gazillion threads here from folks who cut wires before the swap was complete, and ended up missing something that they later needed.

There will be a few (1 or 2 maybe) wires that run from the pass side wiring harness, through the loom that runs behind the engine, to the driver side. Things like fan relays wires, fuel pump relay wires, etc. Fish those wires out of that rear-engine loom, and just tuck the entire pass side wiring harness in the fenderwell. Then finish the swap. Once everything works (3 months after the swap) THEN you can start cutting if you desire.

But another note ... I have all my pass side wires intact still (after 4 years). I use them all the time! It's great to have a large supply of wires already sealed through the firewall. I used one for fog light wiring, one for TC lockup wiring, one for manual fan on/off switch wiring. I've used them for outside lighting, and all kinds of stuff where it's a PITA to run another wire from inside to outside - I have plenty already available anytime I need.

So take heed - leave them there, tuck them away, and you'll always have a wire when needed!

For reference, we're talking mechanical fuel pump, etc. I know that part of the loom runs behind the engine. A couple went to the blower motor, and some of the starter leads ran back into the harness?? Their is also a relay bolted to the passenger side shock tower that I have no clue what it does. I'll go snap some pictures

If it comes out of the pass fenderwell, then seperate it and tuck it aside. If it comes out of driver firewall, then you need it. If it comes out of firewall by the heater blowerr motor, you need it.
