distributor ?
i did a carb conversion on my 88 z, can i use a mech adv distributor? or does it have to be a vac adv? i already got a 6AL box and blaster 2 coil i was going to go with pn 85551 pro billet

Vacuum Advanced distributors are mechanically advanced as well. They just have a vacuum port to assist with advance.
Are you asking about a preset distributor with a locked constant advance? If so, not sure I'd go that route - I'm pretty sure those are for serious race rods and not street driven rides. 99% of the time you want a standard vac adv distributor.
As I understand it, the only thing your MSD gadget does is change your ignition from a single spark to a multiple spark, and helps more efficiently burn the fuel in the chamber by firing the plug several times rather than just once. This souldn't have anything to do with the actual need to have variable timing advance with mechnanical and vacuum assistance.

the msd pro billet comes with different springs for the centrifugal advance, i wouln't call it a constant advance because you can tune it in for your specific application. seeing how it is mostly a street car i see what your saying about having a vac advanced dis.
