Just went to turn on my headlights and neither would open!

Both have always worked fine until this evening,if I manually open them they will still close when I shut off the light switch,but won't open again on their own.

This is the first time I've had this problem and it appeared out of the blue.

Is there an electronic relay somewhere that may cause this?

 

do the motors operate any bit at all? my father's firebird had the same problem but there was a really easy fix for his.. when you turn the lights on, don't just flip the switch over to the on side. hold the switch in between the off and on setting for a second and then turn it on. It works every time for his car, it seemed that the motors needed more time to deploy than the switch would allow without knowing the trick to it.

 

Yes,they will retract when the light switch is turned off.

This morning I went out and tried the switch and both lights popped up like normal and went down when I shut the switch off,then when I tried it later only the drivers side opened.

It isnt the motors and the switch is ok,I am thinking it must be the headlight control module.

As I undertstand it after reading past threads,the 1990-2002 cars used the same module,so maybe I can find a good one in a junkyard.
I called the auto parts store and they dont carry them.
