ok, this plug close to the battery has me confused. the connector has the red, and an orange wire, coming from wire loom that goes back towards firewall. the wire on the left side in the pic is red, and comes out of the connector and is attached to the + batt factory cable. the other is, what appears to be an aftermarket fused wire that is attached with a ring terminal to the + batt post. this aftermarket fused wire is supposed to power the electric fans i am told. seems odd to have this setup powering factory fans.

can somebody explain this whole connector and maybe what the factory harness should look like, if this isn't a completely factory setup.

 

would help to know year, and what engine, and if single fan or dual fans

The Red wire should be the Factory BATT+ Power to the Fuse Box. The Orange wire should be a Factory Fusible Link that goes to the Fan Relay, its the High Amp + Power Supply for the fans and does not run thru the fuse box, though the Low Amperage Control Wires to the Relay, do go thru the ECM to operate, the Fan Relay.
