Headlight motor relays dead?

My passenger side head light stopped going up the other day, I tested the motor with a 12v battery and it works fine. I have power up to the actuator relay, thinking the relay was the problem I switched the drivers side with the passenger side assuming then the passenger side would go up and the drivers side would not. However, now neither went up. I bought a new relay, placed the drivers side back in place and replaced the old passenger with the new. neither went up. I've tried placing the new one on the drivers side and the old drivers side (that seemed to work) on the passenger side with still no luck. However when I put the old ones back to their original position I still get the drivers side to go up and the passenger side stays down.

I have checked fuses and wires all look fine, like I said the motor works when routed straight to a battery...

The car is a 1984 Trans am stock

Anyone have any suggestions? thank you

Re: Headlight motor relays dead?

I thought there was only one relay that powered both headlight motors. When you say the motor works do you mean the light actually goes up and down or the motor works but the light doesn't move? If it's the latter then it's likely the gear in the motor housing or the little circular locking buttons that lock the gear to the output shaft that moves the light up/down.

Re: Headlight motor relays dead?

I was reading a another forum saying there are two the Isolation relay right by the firewall and the actuator right next to the light. Its not the gears, when I tested the motor it did move the light up and down properly no grinding noises or anything.

( this is the other forum and used the videos to test my relays https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...headlight.html)
