Battery Gauge not reading!

Car: 1990 Camaro RS
Engine: L03 305 TBI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 2.73
Battery Gauge not reading!
my battery gauge is reading past the fully charged mark, the needle on the gauge is all the way to the right of the gauge. the previous owner said there was a ground somewhere, but after i check the ground to the block, it seemed fine. why is it doing this?
