Dash lights wont turn on after sterio installation
Hi,
i have an 89 trans am GTA. After installing my radio i realized that my dash lights are not working. I had to hard wire the radio in because the factory plug was cut out. i followed a wire diagram to hook the radio up and everything seems to be working fine other than my dash lights. i had another radio hardwired in before i installed this one and the dash lights worked. my taillights are on and i checked all the fuses. are there any fuses under the hood? Ive had this car for about a year and im still learning more about it so if anyone has any info i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Re: Dash lights wont turn on after sterio installation
I am not sure about an 89 T/A, my experience has been with 87 and older GM harnesses, but the only direct connection to the dash lights from the radio would be a wire that turns on the internal bulb in the factory radio when the lights are on. The 70's GM radios I believe this wire was grey, then you had a yellow for hot Newer harness I don't remember for sure what color it is but I think it is grey like the rest of the interior lighting wires ( like to the under dash lights, console lights ) Guessing the problem might be this wire is connected to the radio where it shouldn't be? hard to know. And there might be a couple fuses under the hood but they would not have anything to do with the interior items. GM pretty much kept everything on the main fuse panel under the dash.
