Re: Two different oil press. switches?
TPI?
coolant temp sensor on drivers side is for dash gauge with a single blade terminal
lower sensor near oil filer is oil pressure cut off for fuel pump
the coolant temp sensor on passenger side is for fans
thing lower on block is the spark knock sensor they both use same plug style
sensor near distributor is for oil pressure gauge
there is a third sensor under plenum and a forth in front of intake
good luck
advance auto has most of them use code p20 for 20% off

Re: Two different oil press. switches?
The 90 uses a single oil pressure sender and fuel pump cutoff switch combination. Thus the 3 terminals. It should be located below the distributor. Atleast every GM V8 I've ever worked on(and that's a whole bunch) had it located there. A possible alternate location would be just above the oil filter, in the block.
The difference between the two NAPA switches is one is top quality( I understand the NAPA electrical parts are now made by Standard Motor Products which is a good manufacturer). The Echlin is Standard red box which is their best quality, the Mileage Plus is Standard green box, or Tru-tech which is the value brand. I've used both without any problems. Of course all of these electrical parts, even Bosch and AC Delco are now made in China, which really burns my butt.

Re: Two different oil press. switches?
Thanks for the input, I'll be picking the switch up tomorrow.
And my switch is located right above my oil filter...driver side, below my coolant temp sensor. I've replaced my dist. before and don't remember seeing an oil pressure switch there.

Re: Two different oil press. switches?
FYI - there is no coolant temp sensor on the driver side anywhere close to the oil filter, so I'm not sure what you are seeeing (maybe the O2 sensor on the exhaust?).
Coolant temp sensors are 1) driver side head between #1 and #3 spark plugs (guage), and 2) on intake beside the thermostat housing (for the computer/fans).
Also note - the oil pressure switch (neither/none of them) have anything to do with fuel cut off, as they will not cut the fuel off. The one by the oil filter actually turns on the fuel pump in the event that the ECM and/or fuel pump relay stop working, so that you can still get fuel to limp home on.

Re: Two different oil press. switches?
I'm going to change this during the weekend while doing an oil change.
If for some reason this one doesn't work and I need to put the old on back in, do I need to drain the oil to replace the switch?

Re: Two different oil press. switches?
so im needing to change this switch as well. i have a 92 bird with the stock 305. my switch is the 3 prong and is located above to oil filter. my question is how do you get the old one off? i tried using pliers to grab it and there isnt much room to work with there ( i had the oil filter off ). i dont know if there is a special tool to get it off there or not. any input would be very nice!! thx in advance..btw here is the part i got.

I'm going to try using a crows foot to get it. I just blew a head gasket on so this thing kinda took a backseat : (
