My car sits most of the year so i disconnect the battery but this time after connecting i noticed after power was applied to the car both headlight motors would just spin for about 8-10 sec. , never did that before. so after the car battery was connected i would try the headlights and the wheels on top of headlight motors would just spin and try to push up the lights. One headlight might make it up or down sometimes or both don't go up , they are just acting random after hitting the headlight button. Could they have both gone out out at the same time ? also do i need new motors or a repair kit ? oh and when trying to put lights up in manual , the motor wheels just spin and wont go up ?

I have this exact same problem, I would engage my headlights and sometimes they would go up, maybe one would go up not the other but then after awhile now they just spin and neither will popup.

 

sounds like the gears are stripped

 

I think that is the primary design flaw with any gen Firebird. I didnt like the flip up lights and that is why I kept my Camaro and traded the bird.
