Starter relay and VATS module locations?
The other day my car wouldn't even crank. It's probably the vats module so I'm curious as to where that is.
Also, I tried to find the starter relay, which I was told is in the driver side kickpanel. I looked and it wasn't there! I didn't even see any trace of wires going to any sort of replay in the area. Any help?

VATS relay is deep inside the middle of the dash. Not at all easy to reach.
Starter relay...I have no idea really, except that I heard the same thing about where it is.

I'll just have to look for it again someday...but I swear I didn't see anything! I saw the wires that go down under the carpet, but that's it.

Re: Starter relay and VATS module locations?
In alot of cars, the starter enable relay is under the black goo by the hood release handle. The VATS module itself is as mentioned, buried deep under the dash. Therte's nothing "user serviceable" within the VATS module anyway, so no real need to dig it out. But once you find the starter enable relay, you can trace the blck with yellow stripe wire up into the dash to find the actual VATS module.
Easiest fix is to measure the resistence in your key, and buy that resistor ($1), and put it in the VATS wires under tyhe steering column www.thirdgen.org/vats
