No power from firewall back

Somebody crossed my battery wires and ran the positive to the block and the negative to the starter and it melted some insulation and fried a computer. I got the engine to fire off on starter fluid, but could not get it to run. I found out that the fuel pump is not firing and I have no power like windows or my idiot lights.
