Fuel Guage Failure
Fuel Guage Failure
My friend and i are fixin' up his 92' Rs Camaro. We are having trouble getting the fuel guage to work, ive looked on diagrams and found that the orange wire is the one for the fuel guage, ive used a tester and found that all the orange wires visible have power. Could if be the guage itself? or will this require dropping our the fuel tank ect.?

Re: Fuel Guage Failure
Orange should be for the fuel pump positive, not the guage sender. The guage sender wire is purple.
If it's just the guage, that's easy - drop the cluster and replace. If it's the sender (which it usually is, you have to drop the tank (or cut the access hole in the trunk).
The sender should have a varying resistance on it depending on how much fuel is in the tank.
If you can't see any reason that the guage would be messed up, then it's probably the sender - bite the bullet, drop the tank, see what's wrong with sender, and replace fuel pump while you are there - the fuel pump is due anyway.
