starter and ignition wiring from scratch.

Ok for starters im dropping my 383 in my car finally after 3 years. I once had it all wired up but it was stolen from me and as i was chasing the thiefts down, the whole engine was knocked around and wires torn off. So anyways that was 3 years ago and i forgot all how to wire the starter and ignition up. Keep in mind i have eleminated the stock wiring harness so i have no wires to tap into, all needs to be ran new. Act as if it was on an engine cradle being fired up for the first time. I do want to add a push button start and toggle switch for ignition. If you can explaine to me where the wire come from and go to that would be fine for me. Thanks everyone.

Re: starter and ignition wiring from scratch.

Are you missing the engine side at the C100 bulkhead near the booster or is the dash harness gone too?

If its just the engine bay side, Id grab another from a junkyard. V6 harnesses will work, cut out all the EFI stuff

Re: starter and ignition wiring from scratch.

No no. I mean its still all in their along with my 305. Im actually driving the car down the road as i type lol. Im ripping out the whole ecu and getting rid of all the harness. Doing this for two reasons: one i want less wires behind my dash and in the engine bay to give a clean look( keep in mind its a show car) and for two tbis wiring harness is so jacked up and rigged its not even funny. So im going cabed(for now) and putting in a rat rod style steering column from flaming rivers. So i just need a basic wiring diagram. I dont want to use any of the stock harness so please no references to the stock wiring or any of that jibberish. Thanks

Run fused wire from batt;
Split to Ign switch and starter button
Ign wire runs to coil Pos+
Starter wire runs to S terminal on starter ( goes through P/n or clutch switch 1st )

If you have one already ,run starter wire there.
Stock setup didn't use one ;wire went key / safety switch / starter solenoid ( on starter )

Re: starter and ignition wiring from scratch.

Ok so mine will run key, safety switch, starter solenoid(on remote location), and then to starter solenoid(on starter). I could just delete my remote location one then right? Also i thought their were 3 wires going to the starter? And the negative side of the coil comes from the distributor right?
