fuel pump power wire.

Hey guys , I will be running a new fuel pump and just needed to know if its the pink wire or the brown wire that is the power. I have talked to the guys at summit and was told that I can just pull thru my old pump and all I would have to do is cut the wire from my existing pump and wire it in to the new one.

pink is fuel gauge, and it will pull through just fine. Gas will run out and through the pump like you turned o na garden hose just using gravity to siphone.

plenty of flow / volume

trying to feed a new pump through a dead old one is very hit or miss and usually not recommended. you're putting unnecessary work on the new pump and most likely will shorten its lifespan. Between rewiring and correctly flaring where ever you're thinking of putting the new pump, you're looking at just as much time as doing it correctly and dropping the tank AND you're not going to have to cross your fingers that all the modifications you just made will work without a hitch.

So brown is the power then? And I can plumb the pump right in the engine bay off of the old lines. Iv replaced pumps before its no fun and time consuming. It will also be for the aftermarket fuel injection I'm running so I can't exactly just get a new pump and put it in. But I do appreciate your input.

Re: fuel pump power wire.

most of us doing upgrades and aftermarket stuff run a walbro 255 in tank with out any issue and it'll feed almost every setup you want south of 500 hp.

if you're adamant about doing an external pump, do yourself a favor and yank the intank pump in exchange for a pickup tube like here:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...nk-pickup.html

you're going to have enough headaches tweaking a new fuel injection system, don't make tracking down bugs more of a pain

Intank pumps exist for high and low pressure as well as anything in between. Aftermarket EFI system makes no difference

To answer your original question, TAN/WHT is pump 12v, PPL is level sender gauge, BLK is ground for both

Re: fuel pump power wire.

I bought an aftermarket efi, it came with pump it is an inline pump. I would of ran the walbro but I have a pump that it suggests to use. By tan I'm assuming you mean the brown and my pink wire is the purple. Thanks for the info guys.
