O2 Sensor Question

Okay, so the o2 sensor is in the header, obviously, but I found another wire dangling that appears to come from the same place as the one that attaches to the o2 sensor, its a green wire with a little grey connector but it doesn't attach anywhere, does anyone know what it is? And more importantly, where does it go?

Re: O2 Sensor Question

it should go your temp sensor on the driverside head. that wire runs your temp gauge

Re: O2 Sensor Question

Hmm, that's right by my driver side header correct? Because thats got a round opening like the passenger one but it wouldn't work on that =\

Re: O2 Sensor Question

it should have a round connector on the temp sending unit, the connector slides on through the opening on the end

Re: O2 Sensor Question

you should have 3 connectors for the cooling system, one is on the top of the intake, by the water neck, thats the temp sensor for the ecm. there should also be a thermal fan temp switch on the passenger side. it turns the fan on. then theres the temp gauge sending unit, thats on the driver side head and uses that connector.

unless someone at some point moved the temp gauge sending unit to the passenger side that wire should be on the driver side. the sending unit should look like this...

does your temp gauge work?

Re: O2 Sensor Question

theres also another round connecter on the passenger side that looks like this...its the knock sensor and has nothing to do with the cooling system.

Re: O2 Sensor Question

the "temp sensor" on the passenger side that youre refering to is the knock sensor. the one on the driver side is the temp sender. the green wire with the gray connector goes to it and runs the temp gauge. the wire might be wrapped around something/tangle up behind the block, but its supposed to be on the driver side, and on that sender in the head.

I thought the knock sensor was lower on the engine?

Re: O2 Sensor Question

actually i just looked it up, the knock sensor and fan temp switch do use the same style connector, so thats the fan switch, not the knock sensor

still has nothing to do with the temp gauge though.

Re: O2 Sensor Question

I see, I actually don't have any wires that lead to the driver's side for the temp sensor, I'll try to sort it out, but do you have any idea what the wire I originally asked about is??

Re: O2 Sensor Question

the wire you originally asked about is the temp gauge wire. its supposed to be on the driver side of the engine and connects to the temp gauge sender that is in the driver side head

Re: O2 Sensor Question

How does it connect to that sensor though? This has a connecter that is flat and rectangular

Re: O2 Sensor Question

if you looks at the sender, its got a round peice on top with a little groove under it, that round peice slide into the rectangular opening and the connector sits on it "sideways"

Re: O2 Sensor Question

Yea, I was thinking it pushed into it, and I was like... but that wouldn't work, so next gauge to fix on my list is the gas gauge, and the car will be 100%

Re: O2 Sensor Question

It never reads correct, when I first got the car it needed a new fuel pump, and I went the route of cutting a hole above the tank and changing the pump out, I think when I put it in it went in at an angle, but I actually have a new full exhaust for my car plus a new axle, so while it's down that far I am gonna drop the tank off and see if I can straighten it out
