Re: headlights intermitant problem getting worse

I just ordered a new relay, but of course it won't come in untill 7:30 after dark if that solves it I will repost I don't think that's it there is another relay on the fire wall listed as multi purpose so I ordered that too. might as well. Just about every sender etc. on my 85 t/a has been replaced still if anyone has any info on the problem let me know. my last firebird I made a switch for but I would like to keep this one stock. Ok since posting this I messed with the wiring no change I drove to get the relay tried the lights ,and they went up!! So I replaced it anyway and they seem to be working I can feel the new relay switching the old one I couldn't so it is possibly fixxed. The relay is located next to the battery.

Re: headlights intermitant problem getting worse

I had that problem with my '91 Formula. The Headlight Control Module was bad. I opened it up even though it said "replace, do not repair" and resoldered the 9 contact points. This was about 2 months ago and they have worked ever since. Also just in case I went to junk yard and bought another one for $10 considering they are $300 new and that's 'if' you can find one.

Re: headlights intermitant problem getting worse

i have noticed if i push my control module button slightly harder, they go up and down better. sometimes they get stuck up, but with a little prompting of the switch, they come down.. it is this switch, like 91regulark said.

Re: headlights intermitant problem getting worse

I meant the module under the hood next to the brake booster on the firewall. Oops, should have been more e'Special'ly clear.

When symptoms first appear you can usually get them to open or close by pushing the headlight switch, then slam your door or slam the hood. This jiggles the module enough to make the internal connections make good contact. Keep in mind this doesn't always work.
