Need Help With Electrics

Have 84 sport coupe. Problem is this, the what I assume is the ecm (under dash box at drivers right knee where you plug in diagnostic equip.) is clicks like a clock. When it does this the battery idiot light flashes at the same rythm and at night with the lights on the headlights flicker at the same rythm. Anybody ever seen this and know what the problem may be?

ECM is on the passenger side. The convenience center is near the ALDL, and the clicking you're hearing is the choke relay.

Check your alternator.

Re: Need Help With Electrics

Is that to say the relay is ok but I possibly have a bad alternator? The reason I ask is because the car most of the time idles very fast and the choke is not sticking and when you mentioned choke relay I thought that might be causing the fast idle situation.
Thanks
