v.a.t.s. pass key problems tpi

hey i have a question here,, i have an 86 trans am with no vats, im putting a tpi engine in, my wiring is from an 87 iroc, with no vats either, but my ecm is from a car with vats , i have the ecm from the 87 wiring i could use to avoid that, but i need the chipthat is in the89 computer with the vats because it was burned for the tpi set up and mods i have,,,does the vats crap have anything to do with the chip itself or can i put my chip in the 87 non vats ecm and run without vats,, please someone tell me how to avoid that vats bullcrap, can it just be turned off in the ecm somehow?

The mamcal programing has a chipset 88-92 tpi's all have vats. There are a few way's to get around it. buy a vats bypass module, the other is if you have the ignition key and pass key box you can measure the resistance in the key and install a resister in the wiring harness. Your 87 memcal should not have vats. If you need programming help, pm me !

If you want to use the '89 memcal program, you will have to have the prom reburned and remove the V.A.T.S..
Everything else will work fine.

yes, have it done than if you are sticking with the maf use a $6e mask from 89. you can have the memcal you have reprogramed or use a piggyback unit like moates.net g1
