important wiring ?s

i know this might sound really crazy and im not sure if anyone has every done this before but. im turning my firebird into a strict race car for track only. so with that being said. im removing everything out of it. only thing that will stay is essentials. all the wiring is all ready gone since its completely friend and chewed up. my questions are can i get this thing running with the wires coming out of steering column? if so what are the main wires ill need? (one for starter and i think theres one for distributor too)

If you've got no wiring harness ... buy a new one, or carb it. I don't see you piecing together "just enough" wires to get it going, and still have it running right. The ECM wont be happy.

Since he's starting with nothing and building race car, we must assume he's going carbed.

And yes, you can rig that up. I would get a wiring diagram for the ignition switch and a voltmeter and poke around until I find what I need.

If this is truly a race car you should not need any wiring from the column. Wire the ignition and starter relay to a pushbutton and toggle switch in the cage somewhere easy for the driver to hit.

yes its carbed. and I'm going to be ordering the switch box. I just realized i could order one of them. i havent a clue as to why id want to mess with that. now heres the next thing. should i just leave the column alone and use the key to unlock it or is there anything i can remove to have the column unlocked all the time?

Take the key barrel out like a car thief does and it is unlocked.

All you need is one fused wire from batt inside to switch panel.
One wire from panel to coil and another to starter
One extra if you have elec fuel pump.
Every other wire in car can go
