In need of some suggestions

So I just got my car back from my mechanic the other night and after taking it out for a drive with everything working perfectly fine I put her away. I take her out the next morning and my radio and left blinker weren't working. Thinking it's a bulb, I replaced the bulb and now neither of my front blinkers are working. They just wouldn't blink.

So I figured it was the flasher unit. I went and got a new flasher and replaced it. When I turn on either blinker now my hazards turn on. Hazards still work as well. The guy at autozone said it sounds like a bad ground when I brought in the two flashing units - both look different.

So I started fooling with the old flasher. With it in, the lights will now "blink" but it is extremely faint. The back tail lights are nearly solid the entire time.

I also was checking fuses and found the Radio fuse was blown. I replaced it, and now my radio turns on but the display isn't working properly. >_<

.... Any suggestions? I've heard there are two grounds behind the dash, but I haven't had a chance to look. Just trying to get an idea where I should start tomorrow.

Quick recap:
- Old flasher in: Faint blinking
- New flasher in: Hazards (also extremely bright I may add)

bad or disconnected grounds do crazy things. what exactly was the mechanic working on? the headlight harness has a ground on either side of the head lights. having even 1 of them off will cause all sorts of light problems.

By headlight harness I'm assuming you mean the harness that comes out from each head light? I actually was looking at the ground there and it seems kinda dirty.. was gonna replace it just in case.

Oh and the new flasher unit ALSO flashes my dash lights, which is extremely weird

damn gremlins

like i said, bad grounds will do funky things. the electricity has to go somewhere. looks like the path its choosing is through your dash lights.

Re: In need of some suggestions

Oh by the way all I got was a new clutch and a small exhaust leak fixed up.

I did my heater core today and had the dash out and found a few bad grounds that I fixed, but didn't seem to fix anything. I also replaced the grounds near the drivers side headlight and cleaned up the area.. still no solution.

I'm looking at the "exterior lighting system" wiring diagrams for 1982-92 third gens and I don't see a fuse related to turn signals.

This thing is really kickin' my ***, considering I'm 3-4 weeks out from dead winter and just wanna get some driving time in before she goes into storage here in Mass. ;(
