Re: digital dash swap questions
My understanding is that to go from analog to digital you would need to swap out the entire wiring harness from the digital car into whatever you are putting it in. And if you are going from digital to analog the harness just needs to be modified because all of the connections are there along with extras..

Re: digital dash swap questions
I installed a 88 GTA digital dash into my 85 Z28. I took EVERYTHING, from the bulkhead connector to the heater controls. If the wires came from the dash I took them till the met a connector or ended. The heater controls are the same but its easier to have more than you need than to try to guess later. To this day I have been unable to find a good sorce for a wiring diagram , thats why its easier to take it all and install it all into your car. You will see where alot of the wire colors match up to your old wires(GM is good about keeping certain wires the same colors). Just to prove that GM keeps wiring the same I also installed the original dash from my Z28 into my 69 Chevelle(fits very nicely) and spliced the wires to the original wires and almost all were the same colors. Good luck and hope this helps some

Re: digital dash swap questions
Yes it can be done in a weekend! I actually installed the entire interior from the GTA in that amount of time. If you un hook the bulkhead connector and take everything with the dash you should be able to put it into your car and hook your underhood connectors back onto the bulkhead connector along with the rest. Are you using the same style motor/trans as the donor car? That might make a small difference. It will also depend if both cars have the same options(power window/ lock/ ect. You can leave off any of these you dont need or add from your car what you do, everythinf plugs into something or goes somewhere. Its easier to write on some masking tape and put them by the connector what the wires go to when you unplug them so its easier to remember when you plug them back together. Its not as hard as you think, just take your time and dont cut any wires, find the connectores. Good luck

Re: digital dash swap questions
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I was wondering if they put digital dash's in a V6 firebird. If not would one out of a V8 firebird work?

Re: digital dash swap questions
A far as I know the digital dash was an option , but am un sure if it was only available on V8 birds. I do know that the camaro berlinettas with a V6 could have a digital dash. wouldnt want to tell you wrong but for sure the tach from a V8 wouldnt work on the V6, but all the sensors if plugged in should work. Would like to compare a electrical print from a digital dash to a standard dash before saying yes for sure. ANYTHING can be MADE to work with enough time and patience and proper wiring diagrams!
Re: digital dash swap questions
I think the answer to this question is up in the air. I recently did some research on the digital dash myself. I found that GM assigned a part number for the digital dash on a V6 (2.8) Firebird in 1986. It appears the only year where there is specifically a GM part number assigned for the digital dash (U52) and the V6. I don't know if that means it exists.

Re: digital dash swap questions
I realize this is a dad thread but if anyone is looking I have a complete 88 GTA digital dash. Comes with everything and none of the wires were cut.
