2 weeks still no heater/ac blower
2 weeks still no heater/ac blower
I have tried everything including the fixes found on this board.I have replaced the fan switch, relay both connections that commonly go bad and the fan blower motor. The other night I thought I had fixed the problem when I replaced the brown wire connection behind the dash but the selector switch on the controller must have just been in the right position and the fan turned on.Thought it was that.Today went out to put everything back together and no fan again.I then moved the selector switch a little around the vent heater position and wiggling it some the fan worked but only on high.I am stumped........Does the selector switch have anything to do with the fan working?Meaning if thats bad itself maybe it doesn't let the fan turn on because the fan doesn't know where the selector is?I have no idea.Bad thing is I was at junkyard today and saw 4 of these but didn't get them because I thought it was fixed.help please

sounds like the wiring is messed up going from the switch to the resister pack.
Re: 2 weeks still no heater/ac blower
well I dont think moving the selector is making any wires move unless the bad connection is in the connector to the back of the selector itself.Like I said I wiggled the selector and the fan worked until moved again.which kinda points to the selector but the only working on high when it did work points to the resistor which I will replace but it looks fine.dont have ohm meter here.Anybody know what wires coming of the selector switch(slide) should be hot all the time and with fan on?

by selector you mean the fan switch not mode lever?
if its the fan switch the one you replaced you have a hot in and depending on where the switch is at the hot will change going to the resister pack.

ck. the flat connector going to the back of the control panel . i had a similar problem , blower seemed to have a mind of it's own . locking tab on top of connector was partially broken , connector appeared to be fully connected but seperated enough make contact hit & miss . i re-connected & secured connector , been fine for over 2 yrs. . hope this helps , good luck .

I see that connector, will give that a try.I have removed the stereo but still have little room to wiggle the control panel.Thinking I may have to take console out.YES tuned I mean the mode lever, sorry. When I moved the mode lever between heat and vent the fan came on briefly then cut out then on,now I cannot get it to come on at all. But when it did work as soon as I switched to lower fan speed it cut out.Thinking it has to be the mode selector switch. Also when it was running once I moved the selector toward defrost or anywhere other then between vent/heat the fan cut out. When I put the mode lever on a/c the engine fan does turn on which tells me the mode selector must be sending out a signal to energize that relay.thanks all

After seeing another post where a member took apart the mode lever switch, cleaned it up and it fixed his problem i tried but no luck.1 spring was short so I stretched it but not the problem.now I have tried or replaced everything but the resistor but the fan wont work on high either.

figured it out and now the fix-Take the mode selector switch off by reomoving the 2 screws on top, this is the brown switch with black connector at back.Once off you will see a white button snap thing in the middle -this holds the two halves together.Using ring pliers or something else release this button and separate the halves. You will then see the connections and how contact is made or in my case not made. Each of the 3 brass pieces on the disc have 2 nipples each that stick up.Where mine was burnt one of the nipples was not making contact because it had become worn down/bent.All these nipples have to make contact with the other side of the switch(the flat brass in top of switch).I simply bent from the underside of the nipple a little to raise it some. You can look at the others to get an idea of where it should be.Once the switch is apart it's clear to see what has to be done.I did take it apart 3 times thinking it just needed to be cleaned up.Put everything back together and after 2 weeks and 4 parts I now have to return(switch, blower, resistor, relay)I have full heat.good luck
