Curious if anyone has an idea on what the issue is before I tear into the wiring, but here's the deal:

When the ignition is set to "On", the dash lights come on...and stay on. The light **** isn't pulled out, and is pushed all the way in. With the **** in, the turn signals work just fine, but the right signal in the dash doesn't light up when the right signal is turned on.

However...when I pull the **** out to running lights, or the headlights, only the left turn signal flashes, and the right one just stays illuminated.

Also, I don't have any reverse lights when I have the running or headlights on. They only come on when the **** is pushed in, to the off position.

Re: 1986 Iroc-Z flasher and dash problems
I have an iroc same year almost identical problem.. I've heard they are unreliable.. Here's my problem.

Everything works fine when the dash lights are off minus the temp gauge but that's because the sending unit went.. When I turn my headlights and dash lights on the tac voltage gauge everything except the speed goes to the max.. When the lights are on the right signal is constantly lit and when I turn the right signal on all the gauges that stop working flash around with the signal light blinking.. Signaling is also slower when the lights are on.. So I'm assuming there's a short somewhere.. I've taken the dash apart cleaned it and everything looks fine.. Is it worth replacing this electric dash or how can I fix it?? This is really frustrating. Someone told me it was a bulb I'm the dash causing a problem but I changed them all and it's the same.

I hope someone knows

Re: 1986 Iroc-Z flasher and dash problems
When I had and 84, the original idiot light cluster had a similar issue with lighting. A cluster swap later and things worked well for a while then, oddities would happen. Gauges would act strange one day, turn signals caused problems when on another, etc.

For mine, it turned out the cluster plug/terminals were corroded pretty well and were turning black. This caused spotty contact and erratic behavior in my cluster.
Pulled the cluster and with a modified nail file, I scuffed the cluster terminals. wipe clean and applied contact grease. I also took a small pick and re-arched the terminals to give a more positive contact.
Up to the 4 years later when the tq converter separated from the flywheel, I never had another issue from the gauges/cluster.

Not saying that is THE problem but, bad cluster contacts can cause strange issues sometimes.
