wiring

going to be dropping an engine to a firebird tomorrow. the car is literally just a shell. with all suspension and body panels. no wiring harness interior engine or trans. so im getting an engine tomorrow and just want to wire something up to like a toggle switch to just crank the engine when i drop it in to get it broken in. what amp fuse will i need? and what gauge wire will i need to run from the starter?

Re: wiring

I see this ending badly

Get a universal harness or replace whats missing. If you have to ask, then cobbling something together probably isnt something you're capable of doing

Re: wiring

if its carbed you can do it, just be sure your neighbors like you since running an engine in the garage with open headers/manifolds is LOUD. all a carbed motor needs is power to the dizzy, and power to the starter and gas in bowls. youll need a pretty thick wire to run to the starter, then only about 12-10 guage for the starter soleniod. youll need to wire the dizzy to a toggle or the only way to kill the engine will be to pull the wire out of the dizzy.

if its fuel injected, then youre screwed without a wire harness.
