Having intermittent charging issues
91 305 tpi setup in an 89 rs former 2.8l v6
Is the brown wire going to alternator a hot in run wire. I have checked both red wires from battery and fuse box. Have voltage. Alternator cuts in and out. I swapped alternators. Same issues. Suspect brown wire. Any thoughts?
Thank you

The heavier red wire goes to the positive stud, and should have power at all times.
The thinner red wire goes to terminal S (the sensing circuit) and should have power at all times.
The brown wire goes to terminal F (the turn-on input) and should have power when the key is in the RUN position.

Re: Having intermittent charging issues
Well it was the brown wire. Wasn't getting power. Traced wires back to c100 connection. Pin location was supposed to be G8 which it was. On both sides. But I'm not getting power on the fuse side. Dunno why. No fuses were blown. Everything else works. Except cooling fan. I installed an aftermarket cooling fan setup. 170 on 180 off. Well I tied into another key on hot circuit and alternator works just fine. Still scratching my head on the brown wire. Does anyone know the purpose of the g8 location on the c100 connector on an 89 RS V6? Thanks all!
