89 Camaro snipped fan wires
Well, the weather is warming up a little so it's time to get my 89 vert project running. I was installing a new fusible link on the distribution block to Alternator wire when I noticed the previous owner had snipped the electric fan wires. Both ends just laying there with no indication anything else was done. I do know some people will wire the fan to a inside switch but I want everything working as it should. I think my first step is to apply power to the fan and see if it works so does anyone know if the black wire with the red stripe is + or -? What should I check after that? The sending unit? Wiring? Any help would be great!

Re: 89 Camaro snipped fan wires
IIRC the bk red wire should be positive. mine were cut and put on a switch. but the switch broke. I found the bk and bk red wires cut next to pass side engine bay wheel well. just reconnected them and all worked well.. just run the black to a ground and connect a jumper to touch to bk red to the pos. battery terminal to see if it works before running wires for a switch and all...

Thanks. I will try and connect them back up after I test the fan. I hope I get as lucky as you did. The car isn't running yet because of VATS issue but hopefully I can fix that and see if the fan will cycle as it should.
