1984 Clutch Pedal Neutral Safety Switch
Just for information. I just fixed my Clutch Pedal Neutral Safety Switch. This is the switch that prevents the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is pushed in. Other wise the car will jump forward in gear when the key is turned unless the car is in neutral.
The part number on my switch reads 14066669 EHI 420. The dealer said the part number in their computer shows 14066659. At any rate they show it as discontinued.
It is a very basic switch that is attached to the clutch pedal by a plastic rod that has a rectangle piece of plastic at the back of it that slides the switch forward inside the switch housing as the pedal is depressed. The front of the plastic rod that attaches to the pedal has a plastic hook that breaks off detaching from the pedal. I ended up drilling a small hole into the rod plastic, attaching a nut, screw and washer, so that it will stay on the pedal.
The wiring for the switch is a yellow and purple wire. The switch has two plug locations. My plug was gone, so I used a couple of connecters and put them in the plug-in closes to the clutch pedal once the switch is mounted in the car. Does not matter what order the wires go on the connector spades. Not sure what the back plug-in on the switch is for.

I decided to make a rod out of medal to attach to the clutch pedal. Just go to the local hardware store to buy the rod, cut, weld and drill a hole for a pin.
